Integration and Approximation with Fibonacci lattice points

We study the properties of a special rank-1 point set in 2 dimensions — Fibonacci lattice points. We present the analysis of these point sets for cubature and approximation of bivariate periodic functions with decaying spectral coefficients. We are interested in truncating the frequency space into index sets based on different degrees of exactness. The numerical results support that the Lebesgu...

Enumerating Lattice Paths Touching or Crossing the Diagonal at a Given Number of Lattice Points

We give bijective proofs that, when combined with one of the combinatorial proofs of the general ballot formula, constitute a combinatorial argument yielding the number of lattice paths from (0, 0) to (n, rn) that touch or cross the diagonal y = rx at exactly k lattice points. This enumeration partitions all lattice paths from (0, 0) to (n, rn). While the resulting formula can be derived using ...

The Weighted Least Square Scheme for Multidimensional Flows

This article describes the development of a high order finite volume method for the solution of transonic flows. The high order of accuracy is achieved by a reconstruction procedure similar to the weighted essentially non-oscillatory schemes (WENO). On the contrary to the WENO schemes, the weighted least square (WLSQR) scheme is easily extensible to the case of complex geometry.

Fast Least Square Matching

Least square matching (LSM) is one of the most accurate image matching methods in photogrammetry and remote sensing. The main disadvantage of the LSM is its high computational complexity due to large size of observation equations. To address this problem, in this paper a novel method, called fast least square matching (FLSM) is being presented. The main idea of the proposed FLSM is decreasing t...

“ Mean square limit for lattice points in a sphere ”

The three-dimensional case is the most difficult one. A version of Theorem 1.1 is known for a long time for the circle (see [Cra] and [Lan1]) and for the d-dimensional ball when d ≥ 4 (see [Wal]). In [Ble1] a similar statement was proved for any strictly convex (in the sense that the curvature of the boundary is positive everywhere) oval in the plane with the origin inside the oval. Making an a...
